Read the booklet that is part of the cd
‘Rubato’ is an Italian word. It means ‘stolen’ or ‘robbed’. The reason I named this album ‘Rubato” has three reason: a musical reason, an actual reason and a very personal reason. The three reason are described in the booklet that is part of the cd. Read the booklet by pressing the image down below.
For a long time I have hesitated whether or not I would make the third reason (the very personal one) public. Some of my friends said: ‘that is way too personal!. Keep that to yourself and a few good friends.’ Other friends said: ‘This story is moving and pressing. It deserves to be heard.’ That’s why I hesitated for a while.
Eventually I made the final decision after seeing the documentary ‘Tycho in the psychiatry’. In the very first episode we listen to the story of Jeroen and his girlfriend: that story hit close to home. It resembles the story about Simon and me a lot! Jeroen’s tears have led me to share share my story as well.
